Magnetite Sand Projects

IMRG has established a strong presence in the Philippines magnetite sand sector, with significant resources across multiple sites. These projects are positioned to capitalize on the country’s abundant magnetite sand reserves, supported by strong local partnerships and government backing.

Project 1 – Aparri, Northern Philippines

IMRG has been assigned four offshore blocks of marine magnetite sand by the current MPSA holders. This replenishing resource totals hundreds of millions of tonnes. IMRG is currently in negotiations with an offtake partner seeking 1 million tonnes per month of marine sand containing 5–8% Fe.

Project 2 – Lanao, Lanao Del Norte

This land-based magnetite sand resource is located in the province of Lanao Del Norte. IMRG has secured agreements with multiple permit holders and landowners in the region to develop the resource, which also replenishes during cyclone seasons. With full support from the indigenous population and political backing from the Government of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, IMRG is set to produce 200,000 metric tonnes per month of 62% Fe magnetite. This will involve the construction of two processing plants, with the involvement of stakeholders including the government, local communities, and our funding partners Barkley Peirce Capital and the Australian company Sedgman, responsible for plant construction and operation.

Project 3 – Offshore Butuan

IMRG is finalizing the acquisition of an offshore mining permit near the city of Butuan, covering 1,000 hectares located 500 meters offshore. The site holds high-grade magnetite Fe and significant gold deposits. IMRG has agreed in principle to a royalty-based arrangement for the entire permit area, with full ownership being assigned to IMRG for a 100-hectare portion of the area.

Summary

IMRG currently controls nearly one billion tonnes of magnetite sand deposits across the Philippines, with potential to acquire more if needed. This is the core of our business. Our long-term strategy includes building a mega processing plant on the Island of Bintan, strategically located near our iron ore market and major land reclamation projects that can utilize our residual sand products.
